Before I continue, I’d like to address a frequently asked question.

What’s the difference between dauphinoise and gratin potatoes?

The answer is straightforward. The distinction is that in traditional gratin potatoes, the potatoes are precooked before being baked, however in a Potato Gratin Dauphinoise, they are used raw. However, since I used raw potatoes, my dish is just Potato Dauphinoise.

Combination of Chicken with potato recipes or even sweet potato recipes carry a vast variety and this Potato Dauphinoise Recipe is one of them.

This is not a baked chicken dish since we are cooking the chicken before baking the entire thing in the oven.

Before we go any further, I think we need to figure out what ingredients we’ll need.

Method of preparing Potato Dauphinoise:

Potato dauphinoise is said to have originated in France’s Dauphiné area.

Chicken Material Base:

Take a basic pan and add 1 tablespoon of clarified butter, followed by 1 medium onion, diced. Mix in 12 teaspoon salt and 12 teaspoon black pepper.

Once the foundation is finished, add 1/2 kg of boneless chicken to the same pan and stir with seasonings. Cook for a few minutes with some water and a lid on top. (At this point, the purpose is just to simmer and soften the chicken.)

Now that our chicken is thoroughly cooked and has a lovely colour, add 2 packets of cream (the one I used in the video is not sponsored) and begin mixing it with the chicken. Isn’t this recipe coming together nicely?

Creating Layers:

Start spreading the chicken material we created in the previous step onto a baking pan (I used a glass baking tray). This will be the base layer. Add the circular sliced potatoes now. I used three potatoes. Top with Shredded Cheddar Cheese and repeat with chicken material on the fourth layer. We’ll add another layer of potatoes and cheddar cheese, stuffing it with cheese and potatoes this time.
