1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, and a sprinkle of salt should all be sifted together in a large mixing basin. A lump-free, smooth batter is guaranteed by sifting.

Beat an egg until it’s well-beaten in a different basin. Next, include half a cup of milk, half a cup of vegetable oil or melted butter, and a couple of teaspoons of vanilla essence. Beat with a whisk until well blended.

Pour the wet components into the dry ingredients gradually, whisking or using a spatula to gently incorporate the ingredients. In order to keep the texture soft, don’t overmix.

Transfer the mixture into the ready-made cake pan and use a spatula to distribute it uniformly. A toothpick put into the middle of the cake should come out clean, leaving just a few moist crumbs behind after baking for 25 to 30 minutes in a preheated oven.

After letting the cake set in the pan for ten or so minutes, turn it out onto a wire rack to finish cooling.

After the cake cools, you may either eat it plain or coat it with your preferred chocolate frosting.
